About GM

I am a self-described educational technologist that firmly believes in the prospects and promises of digital technologies that can be used to create mobile, ubiquitous learning environments. My main interest lies in servicing the tails of the curve…one tail being learners that are left behind by a one-size-fits-all public education system; the other tail being the learners that are choosing to leave behind the one-size-fits-all public education system because it does not fit their needs. The former being the students that the spirit of No Child Left Behind was supposed to serve; the latter being the students that will leave their schools behind as they design their own education. Public education needs to get a clue and a program that might be called “No School District Left Behind” because if we don’t figure out how to serve these two tails of the society, those customers will leave and never come back.

I am a member of the following professional organizations:

I am a doctoral student at Pepperdine University looking to finish an Ed.D. in Learning Technologies. I am currently working on a dissertation preliminarily titled, “Characteristics, competencies, and professional experiences of K-12 virtual school administrators.”

I hold a M.S. degree in Applied Computer Science from Azusa Pacific University and a B.B.A. degree in Finance & Banking from National University.

I have been previously licensed as a California Real Estate Broker, and an NASD Series 7 General Securities Representative, as well as formerly holding numerous insurance sales licenses in California. I love the knowledge I received from pursuing these licenses, but found the sales process at the retail level to be a grind. This was my first exposure to the fact that most people have little clue about money…whether that be earning it, spending it wisely, investing it for long-term appreciation, or any other aspect of accumulation and preservation of wealth. Sadly, I had little, and now have no, patience for the financial illiterate. At one time I thought this is where I was going to be able to make a meaningful contribution to the society. Not any more. Truly, when it comes to personal finance, most people seem quite content to remain blissfully ignorant.

For the remainder of my working life, I will focus on a) the general education of societal members that are interested in taking responsibility for their own lives and their own happiness; b) working to influence policy that ensures our society takes care of those that CAN’T help themselves; c) working to influence policy that ensures the productive members of the society aren’t taxed into oblivion to provide for those that WON’T help themselves; d) trading the financial markets so that my wife and I will have enough of our own money to retire comfortably, as the ponzi-schemes that are the California State Teachers Retirement System and Social Security will be paying less than 50 cents on the dollar compared to what they say I’ll be getting.

Rational discourse grounded in fact and reality are welcome. Idle banter and rants about your “feelings” will prove to be a waste of your time. Please use the Contact page to reach me.
